You may have been hearing more and more about the Census. That’s because the U.S Constitution directs that a population count be taken every ten years. The Census Bureau will conduct the “decennial” Census in 2020.

The Census it taken for a variety of reasons: to set the number of members from each state in the U.S. House of Representatives and to help determine federal and state funding for states, local governments and communities all across America.

By law, the Census Bureau must count every person and submit state population totals to the President of the United States by December 31 of any year ending in a zero. States receive the results of the Census in the spring of the following year.

The New York Alliance is excited to have developed a relationship with the Census Bureau and is pleased to offer a 45-minute webinar to members and friends on the importance of the Census.

Robert Scardamalia is a Partnership Specialist with the New York Census Center of the Census Bureau and he will:

    • highlight the reasons why the Census is important,
    • share key dates and timeframes related to the Census, and
    • discuss issues such as cybersecurity/safety of your data, Census Partnerships and more.

Time will be allotted for questions and answers.
