Dignity of Aging: Upholding the Rights that People with I/DD Have as They Age
Tina Janssen-Spinosa, Senior Staff Attorney, Total Life Choices Program Coordinator, New York Legal Assistance Group

As we age, it’s important to understand our rights. It’s equally important that we safeguard our rights and dignity should we become incapacitated. The key components to planning for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as they age, will be the focus of this session. Tina Janssen-Spinosa will present information and resources that are available to people with I/DD, family members and providers on planning for the future. She will also share how to ensure that an individual’s wishes including those rights that people have related to end of life supports are adhered to.
