    New York Alliance and Cornell University are pleased to present a series of three webinars on the important topic of employment! The PART 1: Job Seekers with Disabilities and Employer Engagement: The Diversity Partners Model webinar series includes:

    Employer Engagement & Work-Based Learning (Ellice Switzer, MA, Content Development Specialist, Cornell University)
    WHEN: October 4, 2018 from 1:00-2:30pm
    Participants will gain valuable information about the importance of creating work-based learning opportunities for students with disabilities that are situated in the real world of work, promote the development of transferable skills, and communicate the business value of employing people with disabilities. The presentation will include a discussion of considerations such as labor laws that apply to paid and unpaid work experiences, as well as demand-side strategies to improve the quality of work-based learning options.

    Talking to Managers About Disability: Communication Tools (Wendy Strobel Gower, Director, Diversity Partners, Cornell University)
    WHEN: October 11, 2018 from 1:00-2:30pm
    Managers and supervisors set the tone for disability inclusiveness in teams and across organizations. This presentation will introduce the ‘Communication Tools to Support Disability Inclusion’, which helps workplace leaders communicate the importance of disability inclusiveness to business success. The tools emphasize ‘short burst messages’ that are simple, clear, relevant and engaging.

    Diversity Hiring: Providers Assisting Business (Jeffrey Tamburo, Training and Content Development Specialist, Cornell University)
    WHEN: October 17, 2018 from 1:00-2:30pm
    As the economy nears full employment, companies are realizing the need to expand their talent pipelines to include more qualified candidates with disabilities. This session will review some simple steps that employers can take to ensure that they are ready to include people with disabilities in their workplaces. Steps include assessing application systems for accessibility, reviewing reasonable accommodation process for applicants, and ensuring a universally designed interview process. We will discuss the role that disability service providers can play in helping employers create accessible and inclusive work environments.
