About the New York Alliance Executive Leadership Development Series
The NY Alliance has developed an executive leadership development series to support your organization’s critical need for new, emerging and diverse executive leaders to develop an awareness of their style of leadership, and an understanding of how to apply assorted styles and tools to support professional growth within all levels of the organization.
Additionally, the series will include curricula in areas related to establishing a respectful and trauma-informed culture, risk resilience, ethics, organizational culture, and advocacy. Emphasis will be placed on decision-making that supports mission-driven, diverse, and inclusive, person-centered supports throughout the series. Participants will be encouraged to collaborate and develop working relationships with leaders in each respective cohort.
Participants will be offered an opportunity to participate in a Mentor Circle. What is a mentor circle? A mentor circle is a structured session in which a mentor and a group of mentees work together to discuss specific topics related to their professional development. A facilitator of a mentor circle makes sure that everything is on track and functioning smoothly in the mentoring circle. A mentorship circle is a great spot to share challenges and get mutual support. If we look at the bigger picture of it when talented individuals share their diverse experiences, unique talents, and other professional resources that eventually help everyone in the circle. The mentor circle will potentially evolve to a few breakouts in more specific areas of the topic to continue to explore and share and help each other to grow as professionals.
This Executive Leadership Development Series will include a coordinated sequence of courses, reading materials, and discussion groups led by industry and educational leaders that will encourage professional growth.
The curriculum will include but not limited to:
- Essential Leadership Practices of Today
-
- Values-Based Leadership
- Building the Foundation for DEI Progressive Work
- Emotional Intelligence
- Strategic Planning
- Ethics and Organizational Culture
- Developing a Person-Centered Organization
- Financial Management
- Governance and Advocacy
- Risk Resilience
The learning series will be conducted over one year. Students will be required to attend all sessions throughout the series. Sessions will be offered through a combination of in-person and virtual sessions. In addition, participants will be required to complete two approved electives to supplement learning as well as a group project. A Certificate of Completion will be presented at the completion of the series.
